The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Movie Review

I really was impressed with it. And Edmund was awesome.

So that's the short version. Here's the long version:
Storywise, I think the changes made it stronger and more interesting. I really liked how they addressed how the siblings would find it difficult to go from being adults, back to being kids again. This is something that I had always wondered about, and it was neat to see how they had been affected from being adults, how they couldn't just go back to how they were before.

Visually, I thought this film was stunning. The locations were beautiful, and the special affects were better this time. It was especially neat how the scene at the river and with the trees, it could have been so easy for this to look like we were back in Middle Earth, but it looked fresh and new. I loved how the trees moved spider-like with their roots.

Characters. The biggest thing I was struck with both times I saw it was how amazing Edmund's character was. He even outshined Lucy, which I didn't see coming. I am really looking forward to seeing him contrasted with Eustace in the next movie. All of the actors seemed to grow more into their characters, and there just seemed to be a more mature sense to the whole movie. Trumpkin and Reepicheep was perfect. Caspian...I didn't like Caspian. Maybe, eventually, I will, but I just didn't like him. And not just because of his Princess Bride moment with 'you killed my father'.

Music. The first movie I thought the music was a bit overpowering, not this time, it just fit perfectly. And it had Regina Spektor at the end, which is a good thing.

Did I mention how awesome Edmund was? My favorite part with him was with the White Witch, and when he is presenting the challenge for the duel. He just had the right balance throughout the movie of being clever without sounding arrogant.

I think overall, this movie felt 'bigger' than the first one. The first one it's just the kids in this magical world, this time they are in a 'adult' world- and there is a real sense of danger.

Purely book moments, sure as the were-wolf's mini speech, or Trufflehunter saying how they can't kill Caspian because it would be like killing a guest. And the bear, whose name I'm forgetting, during the duel, in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment, he's sucking his paw.
